I must say, we really need to get the players to step up. We can do better than 36 players. We saw quite a few new decks. Well-known decks such as Machamp and Dialga/Palkia G were almost nowhere to be found. Thanks to our staff, thanks to those who let people borrow cards, thanks to all the players and thanks to all the parents who drove the players there. We had 68 players at the Rising Rivals Prerelease. And it was all because of you, the loyal players. Keep it up and spread the word about Pokemon. Let's see how many players we can get at these events.
Saturday, May 16, 2009Aardvark Gym Championship 2009
If you don't already know, I'm the League Leader for Aardvark Gym (at Aardvark Videos, Comics, and Games). In the past three years, I have held a tournament for Aardvark Gym players that I called the "Aardvark Gym Championship". It is a free tournament that is kind of a way to thank my loyal players and watch the league's best players face each other in epic battles. Well, it's time for the fourth one: Aardvark Gym Championship 2009. All the info is on the forum. The long and short of it is: It's an invite-only tournament. 8 players will be invited. We're inviting:
It will be held at Aardvark Gym on August 31st, 2009 at 3:30pm. It is free and there will be prizes. Come to the Prerelease this Sunday for a chance to get your hands on these lovely cards. See you there!Labels: Spoilers Friday, May 8, 2009Recent Errata 5/1/09
Poké-Powers that end your turn are receiving errata to make it clear that you still end your turn if the Poké-Power is canceled, such as with Team Galactic’s Invention G-103 Power Spray (Platinum, 117/127) or by Alakazam’s (Diamond & Pearl—Mysterious Treasures, 2/123) Power Cancel Poké-Power.
Some abilities referring to “Stage 2 Evolved Pokémon” are receiving errata. These cards do not care if the Pokémon is evolved or not, only if it is a Stage 2 Pokémon. So, Stage 2 Pokémon put into play with abilities like Garchomp LV.X’s (Diamond & Pearl—Majestic Dawn, 97/100) Restore attack still count for these abilities. Unown V (Diamond & Pearl—Legends Awakened, 79/146) The correct card text should read: (Poké-Power) Vacation Once during your turn (before your attack), you may use this power. If you do, your turn ends. Remove 2 damage counters from each of your Pokémon. This power can't be used if Unown V is affected by a Special Condition. Blastoise (Diamond & Pearl—Secret Wonders, 2/132) The correct card text should read: (Poké-Power) Waterlog Once during your turn (before your attack), you may use this power. If you do, your turn ends. Attach as many basic {W} Energy cards from your hand to any of your Pokémon in any way you like. This power can't be used if Blastoise is affected by a Special Condition. Alakazam (Diamond & Pearl—Mysterious Treasures, 2/123) The correct card text should read: Psychic Guard (50) During your opponent's next turn, any damage done to Alakazam by attacks from your opponent's Stage 2 Pokémon is reduced by 30 (after applying Weakness and Resistance). Glalie (Diamond & Pearl—Mysterious Treasures, 25/123) The correct card text should read: (Poké-Body) Craggy Face As long as Glalie is your Active Pokémon, any damage done by attacks from your opponent's Stage 2 Pokémon is reduced by 20 (after applying Weakness and Resistance). Staraptor (Diamond & Pearl—Stormfront, 27/100) The correct card text should read: (Poké-Body) Protect Wing As long as Staraptor is your Active Pokémon, any damage done by attacks from your opponent's Stage 2 Pokémon is reduced by 20 (after applying Weakness and Resistance). Looks like POP made an error. The Rising Rivals prerelease sleeves do not have Garchomp on them, they look more like this:
