Base Set Electabuzz Returns

It is confirmed! Electabuzz [BS], a rare card released over 10 years ago, has been reprinted in an English set. The first platinum Prereleases were today. It has been found in Platinum. Who knows? Maybe we’ll see the Hitmonchan [BS] and Scyther [JU] reprints in English as well!

Great Reason To Come To the Platinum Prerelease!

I know I’m gonna want to get my hands on one of these! And you may too- if you come to the Platinum Prerelease this Sunday! Looks great for stall decks. Or perhaps Absol/Ambipom? I wonder if there will be a way to get cards out of the Lost Zone? No matter. This looks like it’s gonna be loads of fun for whoever can get their hands on this!

Downtime and To-do List

There was a little downtime yesterday. We were changing the servers for this site from Windows to Linux.

Just in case anyone is interested, here’s the current to-do list for the site:
-Fix broken links (it seems that last time I did this a few weeks back, I skipped over a few)
-Add a fan art page. A page for Pokémon fans to submit Pokémon fan art. I plan on starting it off with a fan art contest. I hope to get to this once I finish the…
-SoMD Pokémon internet forum. I tested the forum system I intended to use on a test server and it was fully functional. However, now there are some bugs to work out. I’ll let you know when they’re fixed.

Now, on to the next news item. I’m going to finally get that forum up we’ve been waiting for. Some stuff got in the way, but I’m going to go ahead and set it up in the next 8 days. I’ve tested it out, so there shouldn’t be any problems.
The forum will be a really nice feature for this website and I’m sure you all have things you want to talk about but haven’t had the chance to do so. The forum may also be a good place for exchange of Pokémon related ideas, like decklists, tournament policy, recent tournaments, or whatever you may be interested in. SoMD Pokémon TCG Forum, up by January 28th. Keep your eyes peeled.

    Platinum Prerelease Promo!

Lucario is the Prerelease promo. Everyone who comes to a Platinum Prerelease will receive one of these, as well as card sleeves with Giratina! (while supplies last) We will let you know when the Prerelease in Lusby is, as soon as we know. It appears that a new game mechanic, Pokémon “G” will be introduced, as indicated by the Honchkrow G card from Platinum:

    Happy 10th!

Tomorrow, January 9, 2009, marks the decennial anniversary of the release of the first Pokémon TCG set in North America. Many things have happened afterward, many new cards released, and a few rules changes. The past ten years have given me memories that I will cherish for life. Hopefully you’ve enjoyed the past ten years as well.

If there were any doubt as to whether Pokémon TCG is not just a fad, and something to stay involved with for the long term, it’s been ten years; Pokémon is here to stay.

I can say without a doubt that my life is better than it was before 1/9/1999! I hope that you can all say the same. For those that joined the game a little late, it’s great to have you. For those that have been around since day one, thanks for sticking around. Happy 10th!

Site Clean Up and Platinum Spoiler

I’ll be finishing up on some clean up of this site, so there may be a little down time tomorrow.

It seems that the release date I posted earlier for Platinum, the next Pokémon TCG set, was incorrect. It will be coming February 11. You can bet there will be a Prerelease tournament for this set in Lusby. We’ll let you know as soon as we have all the details. While you wait, here’s one of the cards from the set:
